The 2015 Christmas in Leonard events are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5.

Festivities – including Santa at the Library, the Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade, Chamber Chili Supper and Friends of the Library Tour of Homes – will start at 2 p.m.

Santa at the Library

Santa Claus will kick things off that Saturday with a meet and greet and snacks at the library from 2-4 p.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their children and their camera to take a picture of their child(ren) with Santa.

The Parade

xmasparadeRegistration and line-up for the 2015 Leonard Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade will start at 4 p.m. with judging following at 4:30 p.m. Cars, floats and motorcycles line up at First Baptist Church (100 E. Thomas St.); walking, small motorized and bicycles line up at the Church of Christ (206 E. Fannin St.); and the horses and wagons line up behind Bear Creek Country Store (on the southwest corner of the downtown square). Prizes of first, second and third will be awarded in each category. For those wishing to complete the parade entry form ahead of time, a blank form is printed on Page 7 of this issue. Bring the completed form to registration/line-up that Saturday.

The theme for the parade is Christmas Carols On Parade so those planning to enter are encouraged to decorate with the theme in mind. No candy may be thrown from floats/cars, and Santa Claus is already reserved for the Chamber float, so he is not available to be used on other floats.

The parade will start at the intersection of Fannin and Parmele Streets, travel west one block to the square, and then around the downtown square.

The supper will cost a minimum donation of $5 per person, and includes chili with crackers, cheese, chips, onion, sour cream, desserts, sweet tea, unsweet tea and water.
