The First Baptist Church of Leonard was founded in 1875 - making 2025 their 150th anniversary year! The church, located at Thomas and Main, offers weekly services, Sunday Bible study classes, Wednesday night activities (Awana for kids, youth group of teens, and Bible study for adults) as well as a meal. The men's, women's, kids, teens and senior adults enjoy regular events throughout the year as well.

The Leonard Community Development Corporation promotes economic and community development within the city and on behalf of the city by developing, implementing, providing, and financing projects as defined in Section 4B of the Development Corporation Act (Article 5190.6 V.T.C.S.).
Open Arms Homeless Shelter is a Biblical faith-based organization offering hope and encouragement by providing temporary shelter and guidance/resources for people of Fannin County toward an independent life - a "hand up" rather than a handout. The shelter is located in Bonham and serves all of Fannin County.
Open Arms is the only homeless shelter in Fannin County.
Our mission as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization is to provide new and gently used clothing to children in need, supporting families in our community, including those in foster care, at no cost to them (by appointment only). We are dedicated to ensuring every child has access to the basic necessities that help them feel safe, loved, and valued. Through compassionate service, we aim to empower families, strengthen our community, and promote dignity and hope for every child, one outfit at a time. In addition to providing clothing, shoes, diapers, and wipes, Palmer’s Closet has recently added a free food pantry. This expansion allows us to better serve families in need by addressing both clothing and nutritional essentials in one supportive, accessible space.
